New guy here. I have many years of life experiences but few with outboards. I am currently installing a water pump kit in my 2010 Yamaha 50 tlr.Should I use sealant on either side of the impeller plate or gasket below it? This is the first pump change and it did not appear to have sealant on it from the factory. Unless it was a light gasket spray adhesive. Hoping some of you Yamah pros can enlighten me. no sealents.
I do use water proof grease on the bolts. -

no worries.
just remember to rotate the drive shaft clock wise when installing the housing to the impeller.
I use a bit of dish soap to lubricate the impeller.Comment

In case Rodbolt too busy to answer, Yamaha makes a tube of Waterproof Grease, and I use the Quicksilver 2-4-C Waterproof Marine Grease....a 6 ounce tube could last a lifetime for the average shade-tree wrench, like myself!
