Hour meter

Hello,
I just purchased a pioneer 197 sport with a f150 Yamaha 4 stroke. Is there a specific hour meter that I need to use if I want to add one. I would like it to track actual engine running if possible and not just time that the key is turned. Any help with part numbers, brands ext would be appreciated.

yamaha makes one thats plug and play.
depending on the year and rigging the yamaha digital 6y5 tach has an hour meter built in as does command link digital.
you can always have the hours pulled with the laptop at your annual service.
