I have to idle for 5 to 10 min. when putting in the water if it is freezing out before my 04, 4 stroke, 115's will start peeing. Any suggestions??
Glenn
32 deg freezing?? frozen?? if so, caution as your pump will be running dry and damaging.usually the prob is not enuf water flow as yammies need plenty of hose flow.if that is the case, frozen, be very careful...i would submerge it in warm water first, but even if you get the pump unfrozen, you might still have frozen water in the block, obstructing flow....
Glenn,
Any water left in the cooling system if subjected to freezing temp obviously is going to freeze. The only way to prevent that, is to drain all of the water from the motor when you last use it.
You might try cranking the motors for a few seconds out of the water after use to see if that clears the line that feeds the side discharge. Engage your kill switch by pulling the lanyard to prevent the motor from starting.
If you have water pressure gauges, then I would not worry that the pee stream does not appear for a few minutes after startup. The pee stream is only an indication that there is water pressure from the water pump. Whether it's plugged up or not will not effect the cooling of the motor.
Good luck ,
