hello there,
I have a v6 yamaha 150 hp 1988 with a bad stator..it starts and runs great, but does not charge the battery.testing revealed the stator to be the problem.
now,I have here brandnew in the box,a stator for the yamaha V4 1988 outboard.
checking the parts list,I see the yamaha V4 is 6E5,whilst the yamaha V6 is 6G5.
according to book they are not compatible..
this is what has me confused,as the 2 stators ,sitting side by side in front of me on the table now,,,are identical.
same hole configuration, same configuration of charging and lighting coils,,same ohm reading between blue - black/red (740 ohms) and red - brown(70ohms)
my big question is now,,,what is the difference?? before I fork out $$..will the 6E5 work on my engine? I assume there is a difference in output for charging batteries..I see no other differences.
hope pls pls someone gives me some info.
cheers
BMB
