more power

hey i was wondering if anyone knew how to get more power out of my 97 30 hp it will only run about 29 on my 14 john boat besides taking weight off ( my platform for fishing/shimping ) any add on for the motor i cant seem to find anything for them

assuming the motor is running as it should, is setup right and has the right propellor, the only add on will be a 40HP

Sounds like 29MPH is pretty good for a 30HP motor, but you might adjust your load, motor height, motor trim, etc. for maybe a bit more speed? Flat bottomed jon boats have a lot of drag and don't usually do well trimmed up, which can cause porpoising. I run an 1870 Jon with a 90HP motor and 35MPH seems pretty near fast enough!

there are no magic or performance enhancing parts to boost hp on outboards that I have ever seen either.

If your motor is proped properly for the load you are running it will be hitting the top of the RPM range at WOT.
Check your WOT RPMs
