How to remove control handle?

2008 250 4-stroke with a DBW control handle has a bad trim/tilt switch.
How does the handle come off? The pivot where a bolt might be holds the gear disengage button...

Then how do I get the old button out?

Remove the rubber cap over button in center of handle to gain access to screws.

I've looked, but the push-button to disengage the gears is under the rubber cap...only thing I can see
