F225 throttle problem

I have twin 2008 F225s that will not go into reverse from neutral until nearly in full throttle reverse (makes docking extremely difficult, basically I have fast idle and go backwards like a bat out of hell) I am just trying to figure out what might be causing this.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

unless the control cables are just way out of adjusment, i cant think of anything that would cause that, check the attachment where the cable is held in the bracket, i have seen the clip come undone and the housing could be moving. just a thought

I had a friend come by the boat last night and it looks like it is something at the throttle controls. The boat will go into reverse where it is supposed to but then it gets no gas at the engine until almost nearly wide open.

Anybody have an idea why this is happening?

Disconnect cables from engine and see if have excessive slack in cables and see if engine shifts ok by hand.
