  • 150 HPDI Cutting Off

I have a 2001 150 HPDI with about 500 hours. Never had a problem until last week in the ocean the engine would cut off when I would hit a wave. Power would immediately drop, but the engine would not stall completely. In smooth water, no problem. Tried to duplicate the conditions on the lake and the engine would cough and momentarily lose power when crossing another boat's wake. No water apparent in filter bowls. Will run WOT with no problems in smooth water. Help!

especially the VST filter and the medium pressure inline filter.
DO NOT use a standard hose clamp when replacing the inline filter.

Probably would be best to have it hooked up to lap top and monitor while problem happens.

Could be the HP fuel pump is turning off, but not sure what would cause it when hitting wave unless it is a bad connection

Thanks for the info. Whatever happened did so from the previous day when we pounded in the ocean and the engine didn't stumble. Also, will any error code stored be lost when the battery is disconnected?

you can look at the last 13 minutes of engine operation.
it should store the code and display the engine hour it occured.
