703 throttle link direction

I've just taken off the tiller on my 9.9hp, wired in a 7 pin connector.
Proceeded to connect a 703 remote.
All went fine until I tried to connect the throttle cable and to my surprise the cable pushes instead of pulling.
Can I modify the 703 to do what I want or am I in trouble ?

Yamaha supplies the adapter, or you can retrofit what you have.
