2007 f150 turns over but won't start

My port engine will turn over but won't fire. when i turn the key to the run position, nothing happens. the back lights don't turn on, the display stays dark, but when I move the key to start, the engine spins. when i turn the key on the starboard engine eveything happens as it should. with the starboard engine running the tach lights up on the port engine but just shows dashes, even the hours are just dashes. could this be a bad ignition switch?
