Just bought brand new battery for my outboard ,my problem is starting motor engages (ie. spindle pops up) but will not turn flywheel ,i can turn flywheel by hand freely ,any ideas would be gratefully recieved..

Maybe remove, clean/polish and tighten all electrical connections in the starting circuit, including battery terminals and terminal on the side of the starter. Also check your main cables for good connections and possible internal corrosion. Try it with the spark plugs out just to assure the starting system is turning the motor. Good Luck!

I would like to thank everyone for their input to this blog ,have to say ive solved the problem which was the starter solenoid ,the contacts on the starter solenoid were that bad had to strip full thing down and clean every contact then put back together ,have to say this was not a difficuld job if your diy friendly should be tackled i think ,anyways put all back together and managed to get my engine started whoohoo ,thanks again and keep up the good work ,cheers Dean..
