  • F250 won't recognize new command link tach

I have a 2007 F250 4 stroke that had scratched up Command Link gauges and bit the bullet for a new set....Brand new Tach and Speed/Fuel Square gauges. I hooked them up and the Tach won't work. I followed all instructions regarding initial set up RE engine number, Trim Zero etc but it does not communicate with the motor, ....a dash appears rather than a "0" in the RPM section, it does not read voltage or engine hours and the first trim line indicator blinks with the key switched "on". The Tach powers up and goes thru the self test mode fine. Called Yamaha and they thought the gauge must be defective. I bought the gauges from Boat.net and of course they would not accept a return. I found a benevolent Dealer to exchange the Tach and VIOLA!!!...... same thing. If I remove the new Tach and plug in the old one it works fine, back to the new one it won't recognize any info from the motor. The Speed / Fuel gauge seems to work fine. The engine will start and run but no info is displayed on Tach......HELLLLPP!!!

On a single engine, single tach engine no should be set for engine #1, might try setting it for #2 to see if makes any difference I'm not sure haven't run into that problem yet.

Tach has been set to engine #1 per manual.
