Hi,
Can somebody help me identify roughly which year this outboard is from? I have not seen it in person yet, it looks a bit rough but it is running. Unfortunalty I only have this picture at the moment.

No I have never seen one like it.

it is a yamaha 5b 654 S so it is a 1980 model.. can anybody help with more information as common issues, service/owners manual etc

We don't have any information on it, Yamaha didn't start selling motors here in US until 1984. Yamaha USA, www.yamaha-motor.com web site offers manuals but only for US models.
