1996 Wave Raider RA1100U Exhuast Joint Failer

I recently replaced the Exhaust Joint on my 1996 Wave Raider (RA1100U).

After only approximately 3-hours of use, the rubber Exhaust Joint developed a split and the engine compartment filled with water.

What would cause the Exhaust Joint to fail so quickly?

The exhaust is water cooled, the muffler is probably has plugged water passages prevevting enough water to get through and coll the rubber exhaust hose. Take muffler apart and clean passages.
