1999 Saltwater 200Hp

I recently purchased a 99 200hp Saltwater Series engine. I am replacing a 1984 115 Hp that was getting old and tired. The mechanic doing the install and rigging has told me that this model does not match up with similair models of the same vintage. He specifically said the wiring on the 99 is different than every other recent year Yamaha. I think he is pulling my leg. I understand Yamaha makes changes in the wiring from a 84 to 99 but I doubt that the 99 is different than a 98 or 2000.

think the change came thru in `96 tho you can still use the same controls, key switches, main harnesses.

Thanks, I thought so. The main problem he had was with the oil pump. He needed some type of adapter to get the wire harness to match up
