Yamaha 40 esn muffler gasket

Hello everyone,

I have a 1984 Yamaha 40ESN outboard
The 1984 parts list does not show a muffler gasket but the newer models do.
The part number is 663-45123-00-00 and is found on the upper housing parts diagrams.
When I removed the lower unit to change the water pump impeller I didn't notice any muffler gasket.
Do I need this gasket for my 1984?

Your motor does have that gasket but you would have to remove engine and muffler to replace it.
