Digital tach on 1987 motor that had analog

Can the early digital tachs (1988-1994 or so) be used on a 1987 200 that came with analog?

If you have all the wire harness for the older gauge as well.

So, I can plug my 1989 digital gauges right in and they will work with the 1987 motor? As in doing a motor swap....
