When i shift into forward or reverse i hear a clunking noise , idles around 700 rpm. Someone told me this is normal for these engines. Ive owned suzuki and omc motors and could hear a little grinding once in awhile. Is this common for yamaha?

    Thanks

They will make a noise, would have to take it to your dealer so they can listen to it to see if it's normal.

some props tend to chatter at low speeds in gear.
some techs forget to install the lock collar assy on the drive shaft or install it wrong and the drive shaft will chatter at low speed in gear.
