Multifunction Outboard Tach Problem

I have a 1996 90 TLRU outboard that has a (I believe) 6Y5-83500-T0-00 Multi-Function Outboard Tachometer. Last fall, before storage, I noticed that the lcd display was faded, much like an lcd watch with a bad battery would look. When the key is turned on, the display barely lights. Also, the oil level indicator stopped functioning. Is there a color-coded wiring diagram available for that display so that I can trace wires for continuity and check for power? What are the symptoms of this tach display's failure? Any suggestions would be appreciated, as would a pdf of the wiring diagram. Thanks in advance.

Hi - unfortunately I have hear that these gauges sometimes wear out/fail like that ...I have the yamaha 2011 rigging manual ...dont know if i can post it here
