Yamaha 4: Bushing drive shaft

I have a Yamaha 4 with long shaft. I would like to know how tight the bushing (part 56 in Yamaha Outboard Parts 1990 4LD LOWER DRIVE 1 Diagram ) around the drive shaft inside the rig/upper casing fits in order to know if mine is worn out or not. I.e., is the inner diameter of part 56 identical to the outer diameter of the drive shaft, or is there some extra space in between?

By the way, since this part only is used for motors with long shaft I'm curious if there is anyone who knows if this part is crucial or not? Will there be vibrations that eventually will destroy the engine etc. if this part (the extra support for the drive shaft) is missing?
