  • Can I Run my engine in a tank without the Prop??????

I recently installed a water pump and impellor on my SX225hpTXRA 2 stroke Yamaha as I noticed it was not peeing properly out of the Tell Tail
The Million dollar question is this I have found a 55 gallon plastic drum I could drop my engine into It will be tight However I would like to know can I do this with the propellor off?? I have no intentions of revving the motor or placing it in forward or reverse.

CAN I CAUSE ANY TYPE OF DAMAGE TO MY MOTOR BY RUNNING IT IN NEUTRAL AND HAVING THE WATER PUMP SUCK WATER OUT OF THIS 55 GALLON DRUM WITH THE PROP OFF??

    Thanks Much

as long as the water level can completly cover the unit as deep as the pump. means the cavitation plate needs to be 3 to 5 inchs below the surface.
most likly the pressure control valve grommet is leaking.
the 3.1L motors dont hold near the water pressure of the 2.6L motors.
    dont compare the two.
