Wiring Power Trim

I recently purchased stock power trim to go on my 40 hp 89 yamaha outboard.On trim I have a ground with 2 connectors,which I figure is motor and boat.I also have tan and black. On my trim switch I have a hot red, hot on up light blue and a hot on down light green.I need help.What goes where or does it use a relay.My engine is 40ETLF.

Yes there is a relay between the switch and the trim motor

Thanks.Guess this is reason I could never get right combination to make work.I could never find relay listed for my unit.Will try again.

I am not positive, but I think the #19 in this part diagram is the relay

My Yamaha dealer says today no trim relay used on 89 40hp etlf engine.They seemed awful certain. Help me 99yam40
