  • Removing lower drive assy casing

I found that my water pump problem (see earlier post) is from a impeller that is wore out. Now the problem is remving the lower casing to get to the water pump impeller. I have removed the bolts and tried tapping to loosen the lower case from the upper case

    Thanks in advance!!!

is it not coming apart? there is one hidden bolt that goes from the motor to the lower unit holding that rear zinc inplace, its under a rubber plug.

        Red,
There is a hidden lower unit bolt that is under the trim tab - it is a separate bolt than what holds the trim tab in place. Remove the plastic plug that is on the upper casing to get to the trim tab bolt - after you remove the trim tab, you will see the head of another lower unit bolt.
        Good luck,

            Red,
I would also strongly suggest that you get a Yamaha shop manual to guide you along on that water pump repair - it will indicate where you need to apply a thread sealer and marine grease and torque specs. You can purchase one at www.yamahapubs.com .
            Good luck,
