2000 2.5 hp 2-stroke Merc and Yamaha Same?

Hi, Newbie here. Are little 2000 2.5 hp Merc and Yamaha same motor (for parts and maint), and can 2.5 be easily bumped up to 3.5 hp? Tks RnR

Not sure, don't think they are same motor. Don't know if any way to up horsepower.
