  • Want to add a kicker to a '05 90 - couple questions

I'd like to add a 9.9 or 8 hp kicker to my rig. First, if I just a steering link, how does that work when lowering the engine into the water. Meaning, my 90 is power tilt, would I have to lower the 9.9 one notch, then lower the 90 a little, etc till they're both in the water. There's got to be an obvious answer to this that i'm not considering.

Also, right now I have a side-mounted throttle control. Does Yamaha make a binnacle that allows me to have throttle/shift controls for both engines on the same binnacle?

And if they do have a double binnacle, what's involved in bringing my existing control cables from the side-mount to a binnacle. Is it just a matter of removing them from the side-mount and affixing them to the binnacle?

Thanks - glad I found this forum.

There are aftermarker(Yamaha doesn't offer them) steering link arms for auxilery motors that has a quick disconnect on them to remove when not in use.
You could use a dual binnacle control box but would probably have install new control cables, would need to install key switch and harness for eack engine.
