    Gents,
Just sold my boat with '99 OX66. That motor was fuel injected. Looking at a boat with twin 200 HP carbed. Is there much difference? I have shop manual for the '99 do I need to buy a new one for the '98? No HP fuel pump? No VST? O2 sensor? Is it safe to assume the 98's are less efficient than the 99? How many carbs on the '98? Are they difficult to tune and sycronize? Is this a good motor? Need some opinions and advise guys.

I'm not a professional with motors but I do know that I would love to have a carb right now instead of the EFI that I have. The carbed motors may be a little less efficient with gas and oil but that would be OK with me just to get rid of the complications of dealing with and EFI or HPDI. As far as I know the ProV has a little more trouble in cold weather than the VMAX. I'm not aware of any other issues.

Thanks Jody, sounds like this is coming from someone a bit frustrated with their EFI. But honestly my OX66 was trouble free and very economical. One guy told be he had these carbed engines and replaced them with OX66's and went from 20 GPH to 17 GPH. That's pretty dramatic. About cold starting, there seems to be a code for starting each engine, once you figure it out, they light right up.
