90 hp yamaha problem?

I have a low and midspeed missing problem. Someone posted that it could be the fuel pump and that to test just remove from the motor with the hoses intact, pump the bulb and if fuel came out there was a diaphram problem. I did this and mine leaks fuel when you pump the bulb. Is this a good test? Don't know anything about fuel pumps and just wanted to be sure before replacing. Or can you rebuild the pump? thanks for any help.

yes replace the leaking pump and you will find the best prices here @ boats.net

You can replace just the diaphragms, but it's easier and better to just replace the entire pump for $50. In fact, I replaced my pump this year on my 1999 90HP Yamaha, the old pump was still fine but I thought it was about time for a new one, and now I just keep my old one for a spare. I'm confident that the pump is your problem and if $50 will get you back running like new again then that's an easy, cheap fix! Good Luck!
