  • Lower Unit Oil cloudy & white looking

Went to change the lower unit oil on my 25 HP Yamaha ESH. Engine manufacturing date is 12/06. The oil I drained out was cloudy and white. Manual says its contaminated with water and take it to the dealer.

Any suggestons on doing ths myself? Am trying to save money without being penny wise and pound foolish. I have already taken it for a spin to see if I get water in it again, have not checked it as of this writing.

it's pretty easy... you're prop/carrier/etc is pretty new so it should come apart withe ease...

it's most likely the prop shaft seals have worn out...

look up the break apart view online and change them accordingly...

check for fishing line wrappeda around the shaft...

Lower Unit Oil Cloudy & White

Thanks for the help. Last winter, while duck hunting, I got a bunch of fishing line tangled in the prop. Am thinking that did it but will pull the prop and take look see.
