Is the replacement VST filter Yamaha sells updated or different the the original that would be in a 1999 S250TXRX? part# 65L-13915-00-00.

The VST filters haven't changed, but your engine should have part number 66K-13915-00-00 filter in it, number 26 in this diagram Yamaha Outboard Parts 1999 S250TXRX FUEL INJECTION PUMP Diagram

You lost me on the part #. The diagram shows a 65L part #. Is the 66K an updated version ? 1999 S250TXRX.
