impeller help!!!

hello people...

im a new boat owner, recently bought a 16'Morbass with a yamaha 60ce which was not pumping water but was running well, have just fitted a new impeller and water is pumping lovely.....BUT....now when i started the engine it was in drive and not neutral/idle!!!!! whats happened and how would i rectify please

You didn't have the shift shaft in neutral when you reassembled the lower unit.
