F225 fuel problem solved---unbelievable

i was sure i had a bad low pressure pump--WRONG !!! after checking every inch of fuel line and tank pick up, a very savvy yamaha tech opened the grommet that secures the harness, shift cable and fuel line. the fuel line inside the grommet had turned to mush and was swollen and collapsed. the harness sheath had split because most of the wires were swollen inside their insulation. maybe saltwater intrusion, or oil from an oil filter change spill ?? yamaha will install a new type grommet that will allow liquid to escape. anyone ever see anything like this before ? and any thoughts on the cause ??
