parts required to convert 8hp yamaha to tiller

Good Morning Please forgive me if I am doing this incorrectly but this is my first time posting to any forum. I have a 2004 Yamaha 8hp 4 stroke with minimal hours. It managed to find a large submerged rock and damaged most of the power hydraulics and clamp for the transom. I have looked at the parts fiches online and what I would liike to do is convert this to a tiller setup. I am searching for a similar model with a blown engine to purchase and basically scavenge the pieces I need to convert mine to the tiller ie tiller handle, transom clamping mechanism, on/off switch etc. From the diagrams, the majority of the main body is identical. The model is a 2004 T8P-LRC Does anyone know where I may be able to find such a thing for sale. Thanks for your time.

The tiller handle kit is number 1 in this diagram to convert it, depending on which model you have, PH power tilt model, EH electric start no power tilt model.

Thanks for the response I have seen that diagram and have been able to price it at about 350 over the net. The problem is that the transom clamp and tilt mechanism can onl be purchased one piece at a time and not as an assembly. I stopped adding them up when I was about a quarter of the and over 600 (not counting the 350 for the tiller handle assembly) I feel the only practical way to make it a tiller is to try to find a tiller with all the pieces with a blown motor. Are there any salvage dealers that deal in these types of motors? I would be willing to pick it up anywhere in the USA or Canada

Hey newbie...I have a 2007 t-8 tiller on my Lund prov. I would like to convert over to a remote control at the helm. Maybe we could get togeather and swap out parts and we both would be happy.

like the idea Tom however most of the parts are damaged for the hydraulics and mount setup if you do wish to sell any of the parts< id be very interested thanks Ward

I must be in a fog here...to convert all we would need is my mounts,cables, wires and tiller handle exchanged for your remote handle, cables , wires and mounts. But if yours have been destroyed then I can see the problem.
If I am wrong someone here please jump in and straighten me out.

you are correct Tom however all my mounts and the lift cylinder are smashed. I'm hoping to find a tiller setup with a useless motor. Ward
