Intro & 2000 4hp 4stroke question

Hi all, new to the forum here, hope i'll be able to help others...

picked up a used 4 hp 4 stroke motor...

using it as a kicker on a 16.5 aluminum fishing boat...

when slow *****ing, and then giving it full throttle, it tends to die out?

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like you need to remove and clean carb and jets. The little jets are very tiny and get plugged up easily with water, debris, varnish from fuel, etc. After you get the motor running good again, start using the Stabil Marine all the time in your fuel tank to help prevent these problems.

Would running Sea Foam through it help?

The carb is small and simple, with tiny fuel jets and orifices that can get plugged with water/debris/fuel residue, etc., about the only way to clean it is remove carb from the motor, disassemble, clean with carb cleaner, pieces of fine wire, air hose. Then after it's working correctly, use the Stabil Marine or Seafoam to prevent it from happening again. Good Luck!
