  • TRP To Be or Not to Be

I have a 1999 BayMaster 22' Guide Series that came with a 1997 150 Yamaha Vmax and a TRP lower unit. The lower unit blew out reverse and upon a quote from the dealer..."we're at $2800.00 and counting, what do you want to do?", I am lost. Should I repair, buy new or replace with a single prop lower unit? I have been looking around and found a new replacement for $2800.00 but does not include wanter pump or props. So i have the props from the lower unit along with the water pump so I guess it is just the labor to attach. The other side...if I go with a single prop, I will have to purchase the prop and water pump. That could cost the same as the TRP. So To BE TRP or Not To Be TRP is the question.

Yes, I have seen some for $800 plus prop $500 and water pump $150 so that would be around 1450.00 plus labor since I do not have the tools. I guess I am trying to justify putting the TRP back on the motor to have its attributes.
