1996 sws250 losses power

Model TURU Saltwater series. Always starts and idles fine. Sometimes runs with full power. Then without any warning she'll lose power and start surging. When she losses power the fuel computer displays an increase in fuel consumption by approx. 2-3 gph. All fuel lines from tank to motor have been replaced new 10micron fuel filter, (3 in last month) new fuel pumps in feb of 08. Frustrated. Ran off remote tank to rule out fuel quality. No change. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try pumping primer bulb when it's starts surging to see if helps, try bumping choke to see if helps.

update

Found problem with top ful pump leaking. replaced pump she ran fine for 40 min. then lost power again. Fuel consumption inreased by 3gpm. replaced fuel filter again no change.

you need to find out if your losing spark or fuel and go from there usally if it takes 40 min to break down it will be on the ignition side and not the fuel
