I have a 2003 yamaha 70hp carb. it idles good except it looks like one of the carbs is pluged up but the mechanic says its the thermo sensor on the side of the engine,67F-85790-00-00
    THERMOSENSOR ASSY
he claims when the sensor goes bad the engine goes into safe mode so it does not overheat. the engine idles good but when it goes above 2800rpms or 3000rpm it starts to shake and miss like if one cylinder in not firing. we have tested the compresssion, spark, and all components and it's all good. if I disconect the sensor the idle seems to go up.. any ideas?

Well I am having the same problem with the shaking and missing. All the fuel lines and carbs have been checked. I was reading some other threads that pointed to the stator/ingnition/CDI, but the heat sensor never was mentioned. I have an early 90's model i think...I m not sure if it has a heat sensor, but the symptoms are the same.

I will post a thread as soon as I find out the excact year of my engine (the tag fell off, and I dont have Mod or serial #) and I can start trouble shooting.
