1987 yamaha 70hp top cylinder misfire

I have good compresion on all 3 cylinders,changed carbs/no difference/pulled flywheel,cleaned stator,changed ignition coil,runs great on just bottom two cylinders,as soon as i reconect top spark plug starts misfiring again, and will stall in idle, I checked for some kind of wire break,but can't find anything.The only thing i notice is that their is one lead out of the C.D.I. that dosnt conect to anythig,I asume that is for a different model, does anyone have any ideas, I am thinking that it is either the stator or the C.D.I., but i dont want to spend the money unless i am shure.

yes i know a manual is ecential, I just feel like i am so close, i was hopeing that someone would recignise my issue/
