2004 yamaha f25 4stroke starting problem

purchased used yesterday, started an ran ok on sellers boat,did not drain carb or run gas out, transported 4 hrs sitting on its back (pull cord up), clamped on boat, will not start, weak sputs occassionally, tried starting fluid, tried removing plugs, pulled cord several times to clear cyclinders, sprayed plugs with ether, still no more than sput - oil level normal - red stop switch in place - now what???

May have gotten oil in cylinders(motor should have been position with tiller handle down to transport), did plugs look oily?
