F4MLH 2005 4 stroke idle problems

F4HLM 4 stroke 2005 idle problems. Starts great, runs great except won't idle at low RPM. However, if it is a clue, at slower RPM, engine runs faster if I pull the choke 1/2 way out and plug looks charred as it looks like running too rich. I replaced plug without any improvement.

The carb needs to be removed and cleaned.
