Hard to start!!!

I have a 1993 Yamaha 90 4 stroke engine. Each time I go to use it it is very gard to start. Iend having to use starting fluid. Once it gets goint the first time an I run the engine it is fine for the reat of the day. Yes I pump the bulb hard. It has carborators and I want to go to fuel injection. Is that possible. ??? All you have to do is buy a motor with injectors instead of carbs, but even those have to be cleaned/ serviced from time to time when they get plugged up
