If a "new" 70 HP TLRD 2-stroke was manufactured in July 2004 (engine plate), can it be sold as a 2005 model.

I just checked my 2000 model C115, and it has a mfg. date of 05/1999 - so the answer to your question is YES. I guess the outboard mfgs. do the same as the car mfgs. - they come out with new year models in the previous year.

The "D" at the end of the model number peg's it as a 2005 model.
"X" = 1999
"Y" = 2000
"Z" = 2001
"A" = 2002
"B" = 2003
"C" = 2004
"D" = 2005
I think this scheme goes "back" to "N" (1989) which means that Yamaha has a Y2.014K problem...Comment
