  • 2006 50HP 4 Stroke Alarm

my 50HP 4 Stroke with roughly 100 hours on it occasionally will have an audible alarm sound. This occurs at idle RPMs (it is on a pontoon and we do putz around quite a bit). Shutting it off and restarting resets the alarm and it will quit only to recur later. This has yet to occur at a higher RPM.

Oil is full. Water stream is solid and constant. Fuel is mostly fresh and conditioned with Stabil though I cannot swear the marina put Stabil in the fuel when they put it away for the winter. I added 10 gallons fresh fuel a few weeks ago. Power is good at all RPM. Runs smooth and quiet. No smoke or hesitation. I do not have an oil pressure guage or warning indicator. Nothing lights up on the council but I do not believe there is anything to light up.

I did scrub the lower end to remove any debris that may have attached over the winter. I have not tried it since doing so.

Make sure oil is in good shape, may need to change oil. If been over couple years since water pump was replaced probably needs water pump.

Can you get some one to connect yds and check the ecu and see what alarms are stored you will then know for sure.

      as boat said
when was the last time the oil was changed as just putting around you can get oil dilution with fuel build up in sump also engine does not get up operating temp to boil off fuel oil gets thin .The oil sensor is very critical to the operation of the ecu
