long shaft or short shaft

I have a F9.9 MLHW, 6G9 L 308512, 03/98. I am thinking with the L in the second set of numbers that it is a long shaft. the shaft is also 27 1/4" total length

From where did you measure the shaft? Always confusing.. People tend to measure from different points... Best to measure from the transom bracket.
