Hi All,
We just put the boat in the water on Friday and the boat ran great all day. When we went to start the motors the next morning the port motor started to smoke and spew oil out of the exhaust. When we pull the cowling the oil tank was fill to the max. It seemed like the float on the oil level gauge was stuck and the remote oil tank was overfilling the oil resevior on the motor. We emptied the excess oil and made sure the float was able to move up and down with out any obstructions. We just replaced the gauge before we put the boat in the water. We then ran the motor to clear out the excess oil but after a minute the rpms would go from 700 down to 400 and motor would cut-off. Low oil alarm would go off as well. I guess my question is if the new Oil Level gauge is faulty and there is sufficient oil in the resevior would the motor still cut-off or do you think there is something else going on?
