Kill Switch

Should there be any reading on an ohm meter, no matter what the setting when the kill switch is in the open position? I tested mine and get no reading if ohm meter is set between 200 and 2000, but if I set the ohm meter to more I start getting some reading, not a dead short readings,

where did you test it as it is a earth to cut power

Disconnect wires going to switch and just run test on switch, should have continuity between black and white wire of switch with landyard cord unplugged, no continuity with cord plugged in.
