Motor is surrging

1987 or 1988 115 2cycle just cleaned carbs. Motor is serging when in operation at upper RPM. Runs great at around 4k but any higher then it serges. Need help

May have restriction in fuel system, check fuel hoses, fuel filters and fuel tank pickup tube. Check fuel pump on engine.

I still wouldn't rule out carb blockage. Had mine rebuilt and cleaned and problem remained. One of my carbs was still running hot (evident on spark plugs). Finally broke down and bought a new carb - problem fixed.

Obviously I'm not saying you should go to the extreme I did (buying new carb), however, I still wouldn't rule out the potential that a blockage still exist.
