long warm up???

I have a 8hp 2 stroke yamaha that is slightly hard to start and once it starts takes two to three minutes to go to full throttle. after you start it and put it in gear you just idle along for those two or three minutes and then it starts to spurt and **** and then you get full throttle. What's wrong????

Pull and clean carb would be the first thing to try
