  • need help with starter wiring

when I connect the + wire to my battery that goes to the starter I get a real bad voltage drop. When testing I found that the other wire on the same bolt (on the solenoid on the starter ) as the battery wire connects too is testing as a ground (it goes to a relay assy by the fuse box). Is this norm or is it suppose to be +. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    P.S. My engine is a 2005 Z200 tlrd

It should have the 12 volt positive lead(red) from main relay connected to starter relay.

It does, but it is testing as a ground. I am going to pull the wire out today to see if it is grounded anywhere. Would a bad relay also cause this?

Ok, pulled wire it is fine, turns out that all the wires coming out of the rectifier & regulator assy all test as grounds (there is 1blk, 2 red & 3 green) are the green wires normaly + or - and is there some way to test it or fix it? Thank you for all your help.
