9.9 2 stroke charging system

Hello,

First post here. I recently purchased a yamaha 9.9 msh 2 stroke. Can I charge a battery for a fish finder with this motor? I have 2 unused leads coming from under the flywheel but am unsure what they may be for??

Any help will be appreciated.

You have to install a rectifier kit to engine to charge a battery, part number 6G1-81970-00-00.

Thanks for the fast reply! I looked up the part # and have another question. It has two green wires, one black and one red. Do the two green wires attach to the two green wires on the motor, and the black and red wires are the charging wires??

Yes they do, connect the two green wires to green wires on engine alternator and connect red and black wire to battery.

Just to make sure....my motor was built in 2009. Does this have any effect on the part number you provided?

2009 is ok, it will work on all the small 2 stroke models.
