I'm new to this forum and have a 2009 yamaha f60 4-stroke with tiller handle. Currently I'm trying to connect a tach (6Y5-2818R-32) to my motor and have two harnesses. One is a 4 wire harness (pink,grey,green-red,green-white) with square plug-ins and the other is a two fuse harness (6Y5-83553-NO) with bullet connectors and seems to be a power harness. I know you don't see a tach connected to a motor with a tiller everyday but can somebody tell me if I have the proper equipment and where to connect it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Daren.

The harness with off white colored square connector connects to same colored connector on engine and to tach. The fused harness has to connect to key switch, I don't think that key switch has the gauge harness already on it so you would have to splice into the yellow, black and green wire with matching colored wires on fused harness.

Thanks very much for the info and I did what you described and received power, trim, but no rpm's. I spliced into the yellow and black wires but the only green wire in the tiller I could find was coming out of the main harness and going to my trim switch at the end of the tiller so I spliced into that one but don't know if thats correct. I was wondering if maybe there is a wiring diagram or something to help me since the motor is 2009 and things change sometimes from year to year. Your time is greatly appreciated, thanks Daren.

No don't use the light green wire(that is down trim circuit), use the dark green wire in main harness. The Tach signal comes from the ECM on dark green wire into main harness.

If the prop you have is running ok and in rppm range then probably go with a 12 or 13 pitch SS.
